Transporting Passengers Differently
Passenger Utility Transport Company (Private) Limited (PUTCO) was established on 6 May 2011, its objective being to introduce a modern, scheduled, organized, safe, efficient, customer-friendly, technology-driven (with automated fare collection systems, GPRS vehicle monitoring, Wi-Fi, environmentally-friendly and affordable urban public transport systemin Zimbabwe starting with Harare and gradually expand to other cities and towns across Zimbabwe.
The area of urban public transport service in Zimbabwe is very much under-serviced. Zimbabwe needs quick, safe, efficient and affordable transportation that can improve human mobility.
The point is simple transportation is a CRITICAL need for people living in cities and towns. Like food and water, they cannot do without.
PUTCO is introducing an urban public transport system that is fun to use, clean and friendly so as to entice more and more people to dump the idea of using their own personal vehicles and opt for public transport thereby reducing congestion and emission of CO2.
